Gyms can be intimidating. The idea of grunting, sweaty people and the feeling that you are being sized up when you get on the treadmill makes many cringe. The Gym of Castle Rock & Crossfit Castle Rock is successfully working hard to change that image.
Housed in a newer construction, owners Fran Colombi and Bill Pfister have created a gym that caters to a very diverse population of those wanting to stay fit. At The Gym of Castle Rock & Crossfit Castle Rock you will find just about everything to meet your health and wellness needs. Their facility has your typical gym staples: a state-of-the-art weight and cardio room, several rooms for health and various fitness classes as well as an adjoining area reserved for their signature ‘Crossfit’ training. But what makes their facility different are the extra ‘perks’ that members get.
Upon joining, they have access to childcare services for kids ages 3 months to 8 years, are welcome to use a complimentary bath towel and bathroom stocked with toiletries for freshening up and are exposed to a list of supplemental classes that address all-around physical and nutritional health. A board certified chiropractor also operates her business out of the gym for members seeking advice to help with back, joint and injury care and prevention.
Owners likewise see the importance of changing and consistently updating the facility. They try to understand and listen to the voices of their members to create a gym that keeps them returning. ‘Originally it opened up as a world gym back in 2004. It was really like a man gym. Women wouldn’t come here. There were not any classes or babysitting services,’ says Colombi of the gym’s beginnings, ‘It’s kind of been an evolution that took quite some time.’
And it’s been a process that is finally paying off, allowing them to get more involved in the community. The Gym of Castle Rock & Crossfit Castle Rock been part of several health and fitness events at local elementary schools and helped sponsor ‘Reece’s Roundup,’ a 5K run to raise money and awareness about spinal muscular atrophy. ‘That’s really important to us too. making sure that we are part of the community and giving back.’
